    2701 quits transmitting

I have a 2701 that ahs been in production a little over a year. It is now all of a sudden stopping tansmitting. I do have the ping test running on it so when it does this an automatic rebott happens. I did catch it before the last reboot and I did see a few tx hangups....After the reboot is complete all is back to normal. It is running the latest f code, and is only in wds mode. Please advise of anything I can try to resolve this.

TX hangup errors are usually due to one of two things, tons of noise (packet loss causing buffer backup), or a power issue.

This time of year the leaves have dropped and the air is cool and dry, which means you typically see an increase in noise.  You can look for this in the usual manner, via packet loss, throughput loss, and moving channels.

As for a power issue, it may be a PoE brick going bad.  Or I have seen in some cases where the extreme cold can cause exterior cat5 cabling to undergo a change that causes the unit to pull more power, and if the run is long you would need to increase the size of the power supply.  I will see if I can dig up the topics from winter a couple of years ago that explain this.

Had this thing stop transmitting again this morning. I went into the wds stats and it showed all zeros for traffic transmitted as well as tx errors. It was receiving traffic as those counts were increasing.  A reboot got it going again. The cat5 run is about 100 feet, seems to happen after a few days of uptime.

Normally the TX hangup related TX failures would have a whole bunch of hangups in there before it would quit.  Did the entire logs since reboot just have one, or just one shown in the log view at that time (and other messages had been cleared out of the buffer)?  There is a counter on each one of those error which would tell you how many there had been since reboot.

There was just one in the logs. I will watch for a counter if/when it happens again. The good thing is I have the ping watchdog running so if it happens they are only down for a few minutes....
