Flashing CPE 2 firmware on AP2i bricked it

When I attempted to flash the CPE2 firmware to a new AP2i to use as a CPE, as instructed by Caleb, the AP2i accepted the most recent CPE2 firmware, and the upgrade status bar progessed to the end. Afterward, the page attempted a refresh, and then came up with a dead link. After that, I could no longer access using the default address 192.168.2.66. The unit is no longer accessible. And no, there was no power off during the upgrade, nothing unusual till it got to the end and then broke the link. I've tried a hard factory reset with no success. Now what's the next step to getting this working? Send it back?

Why would you want to put CPE firmware on a AP-2i? The 2i firmware can do everthing the CPE firmware can do, and then some.

Anyway, does Deliberant Scout find the device? Does your network adapter say it's connected?

Re: Flashing CPE 2 firmware on AP2i bricked it

I needed it to be able to used as a repeater to a router from another AP, and Caleb suggested that I flash it with the CPE firmware as the boards are indentical so it could be used as a CPE device. I'm not sure the AP2i can be used this way or if the firmware works the same. If the AP2i could be used that way, I don't know why he would have advised me to flash it with the CPE 2 firmware.

I haven't tried Scout yet. I also didn't check to see if it was connected on the adapter, but I suspect it may, as it did say a 100mbps connection was establised after I connected the cable or powered up if I recall. However, I could not get a response by pinging the address 192.168.2.66.

Thanks for any help or advise you or anyone else can give me.

Must be a reason, but I don't know it.

In an AP >Client>Router string, I'd normally run AP firmware on both radios, AP firmware on radio 2 set to Client/Bridge with WDS (proprietary bridge) enabled on both radios.

Are you trying to link radio2 wirelessly to the router, or will it be hardwired?

Run Scout and see if your brick shows up if your computer's network adapter shows it's connected.

    Scout can't find it. :-(

Radio two will be hardwired. Radio one is a hotspot (not Diliberant).

I had to send the unit back. I killed it. Thanks for the help, though.
