900 AP and CPE's Poor performance over short distance

Hi,  ive been using these units for some time now as temporary internet access to two buildings.  It has been working, barely, up until yesterday.  I was wondering if i could get some assistance with the best settings to use for the following setup.  I am a bit newbish to the wireless game,  like i said,  this was a temporary thing until a permanent solution is brought in for the customer. Since we put this in,  the trees have grown leaves,  and its been a challenge to keep it running.  Im sure there is something i should be doing that im not, that will get this back rolling.

AP is housed at the location that has the current internet connection.  Its a 900AP with the 5.24 firmware, a 5 foot long omni antenna.

Both locations are about a half a kilometer away maximum, with a thin line of trees in between. It has a 900CPE running the 5.24 firmware,  and a 5 foot long directional antenna.

Currently,  i am at the location with the AP,  i can ping the CPE with a few droppedand can access the interface, slowly,  but if i go to the other location,  i cannot even ping the AP or access the interface.

Ive played with different ACK settings,  power outputs, fragmentation,  etc. but to no avail.  I have to have the power maxed on both ends to get the signal i can get now, otherwise i lose it altogether.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

     Thanks

    Maury

Well,  its fixed enough,  transformer in the way,  may have been causing some issues perhaps,  but regardless its working again.
